Introducing the Fluorescent ssDNA Ladder: A Versatile Tool for Precise Size Determination

We have today a very short blog for an easy read about one of our products that is least mentioned: the fluorescent ssDNA ladder.

Our technology “new Modality Enzymatic Convergent Assembly” (nMECA) allows us to assemble oligonucleotides, in general. The use and application of these assembled sequences rely to a big extent on the design. Hence, we could easily create sequences of very well-defined sizes, with high purity, and then make a fluorescent ladder. The ladder is labeled with a fluorophore compatible with most common gel imaging systems making it easy to visualize and have in one single image your band of interest and the size reference band coming from the ladder.

The Fluorescent ssDNA ladder covers a range from 30 to 150 nucleotides, and the bands are spaced in 20 nucleotide increments, as it can be seen in Fig. 1. Furthermore, once produced, the ladder is purified to guarantee that the molar amount of every band is balanced. Thus, it can be used to normalize against fluorescence intensity.

The optimal use of this ladder is in standard denaturing Urea-PAGE gels.
